ABA Therapy
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a data driven, science based therapy that studies the behavior of others and how the environment affects their behavior, using the principles of reinforcement to teach and increase the likelihood of appropriate skills and behaviors, and decrease maladaptive behaviors. It has been proven to be the most effective therapy for Autism Spectrum Disorder, improving communication, social skills, independent functional living skills, play skills, and coping skills. Brookside offers quality evidence based care using ABA for children 12 months to 21 years of age and their families, with a focus on improvements in communication, social interaction, independent play, and adaptive functioning. We provide 1:1 therapeutic intervention for families and children in our center based on Novi, and support their behavioral technicians with electronic tablets and an on site toy and supply area to ensure successful ABA therapy sessions..
Speech Language Pathology
At Brookside we provide comprehensive evaluations, assessments, diagnoses, and evidence based treatment services for speech and language, including targeting specific areas of need such as articulation/phonology, fluency/stuttering, voice, expressive language, receptive language, social communication, feeding, and other communication difficulties unique to a child's special needs. Our SLPs frequently reference the American Speech Language Hearing Association and the Michigan Speech Language Hearing Association to provide the best possible care for our clients. We also offer specialized services for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, including early intervention to improve their verbal, nonverbal, and social communication skills..
Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapy is a division of rehabilitation medicine that helps individuals of all ages develop the skills required to become more independent in their daily lives. At Brookside, our occupational therapy program is designed to help children improve their fine motor skills, sensory processing skills, gross motor coordination, self feeding skills, visual motor integration skills, and dressing skills to help them reach their full potential. To achieve this, our occupational therapists use standardized assessments to identify your child's strengths and weaknesses, and work with parents to create goals for the child. By incorporating play and creative activities into treatment sessions, our occupational therapists work towards achieving goals at a therapeutic and appropriate pace, helping children develop the necessary skills to become more independent and achieve success in their daily lives..
